Stand up! Take your stand in the standing of Christ.
I was reading Psalm 26 this afternoon. Examine me, O Lord, and try me; Test my mind and my heart … I shall wash my hands in innocence …
And then from the last verse … my foot stands on a level place. Something about taking a stand was highlighted for me.
Then I went to Ephesians 6. I knew there was a statement which spoke of taking a stand. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Take your stand in the standing of Christ
Our standing before the Creator is not our own standing. Thankfully. As we come before Him, we can position ourselves in the standing of Christ.
When I come to Him in prayer, I certainly don’t want to come in my own personal standing. We have been given the standing of Christ by grace. Think of it …
- Christ is perfectly righteous. His right standing before the Father is accredited to our account through our belief and faith.
- Christ has given us his name—it’s the ultimate, cosmic power of attorney.
- Christ has “firstborn” rights over all of creation. Everything has been made for him and through him. As we take our stand in the standing of Christ, we stand in the rights of the firstborn over all things!
- Christ is now the head over all things. All things will be restored. We take our stand in that headship now!
Because of grace and truth, we can take our stand in a level place (Psalm 26). We can be stand up people.
The standing of Christ is there. But we have to take our stand in that standing.
This take faith, initiative, and aggressiveness.
