Next thinking …
The human mind is designed to hold a future horizon in creative tension. We’re fundamentally unhealthy without it. What’s next?
We look to the past, craving that sense of history and flow. What journey has brought us to this time and place? It’s basic to know where we’ve come from. We also seek to be present in the moment. It’s vital and healthy to be alive to the nuances, complexity and beauty of right now.
Beyond the past and present, we desire next thinking. Or, next level thinking …
We think forward about what’s coming, or about what could come if we will but think about it … 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, 5 years, 25 years, 100 years. Next thinking germinates the seedlings of the harvest to come: personal destiny, relationships, enterprise, mission, a country.
It’s really a trinity of thought: past, present, and what’s next? Thinking about the past and present, or worse, just the present, will cripple and compromise our potential.
Really, what do you need to think about?
