Aren’t you proud that many celebrities and the “elites” of our society, you know, the glitterati, appreciate and love America?
Hang on, there may be a misprint here.
Many Hollywood and liberal elites find Americans revolting … Michael Moore, Al Gore, Sean Penn, Chris Matthews, et al.
They may not say it overtly (because of their career?), but it’s how they really feel. And sometimes they do say it.
Bill Maher: “Americans are the stupidest people in the world.”
We’re discovering more and more about these “elites” in the past several years. They’re coming out.
There’s actually a term for this … oikophobia is a pathological fear of the familiar. Podcast on oikophobia.
In this case, it’s a loathing of one’s own culture and people, a compulsive agenda to see a people, a society divorced from their roots.
At least in part, this corrosive force can be traced to Frankfurt, Germany in the 1920′s following WWI.
Myth Machine
Higher education and Hollywood (now the “myth machine”) have been training Americans to believe this for half a century.
Insightful video here from Bill Whittle:
David Carr, opinion-maker at the New York Times, thinks of everyone and everything between New York and LA as the “dance of the sloping foreheads.”
He must mean that most of us are Neanderthals (I’m good with that).

Q4U: So what do you think? Do we have enough historical perspective to see what is happening?

Those that feel this way are not altogether wrong. I can raise my hand and include myself in the land of being stupid. Stupid can be classified as a blind vote for a label that you’ve always trusted. Its like buying a name brand because you’ve always liked it in the past for one reason or another, maybe it was passed on by a relative or endorsed by a friend, it then turns into a “herd” mentality in politics.
I agree with the video that that it there is a level of self loathing of American culture. But in reality the culture they are loathing is not the American framework. The Free Market and Constitutionally run America hasn’t existed for many decades, longer than I’ve been alive. Americans including Hollywood Americans have only known the usurped America, the one that is closer to a socialist country rather than a constitutional republic. So they are actually hating what they think is bad and embracing communism disguised as a republic. A Democracy is what they push but by doing so they are really anti-American. Hollywood would have to study to know that, but they like most of us just accept that what we have is America…its not.
By the grace of God today my forehead does not allow for good skiing anymore. I think there is plenty of capable voters in both parties but most are to busy being smart about irrelevancy and not wise in their political choices. For me this “stupidity” is more of wake up call; a recognition that we need to return to when we as a nation we’re much more spiritually and politically aware; of our “roots” so to speak. It actually speaks to me that we are further from God rather than closer, the fruit of the nations tree is shallow and tasteless. If we don’t know the design of something and in this case; REALLY know the design and thought processes of the framers of the country, we are left with nothing but what we know and if we know a little very well, we feel smart. That’s more akin to “ignorance”
Ignorance is a problem of the country as a whole for which Shallowood would do well to include themselves in as well. But hence they are mega popular and super rich, by default human nature begins to often think more highly of themselves than it ought, suddenly having this download of “know it all”. In reality, especially in this day, they are average at best when it comes to political understanding’s.
I feel we have all been incredibly assuming that all will be well if our particular label gets to sit in the House. Today we as Americans are at a point where we must dedicate hours upon hours and on into months and months to get even close to knowing what we are talking about in order to make more than smart in our own eye’s choices but wise and calculated support for the long haul, we are at the end of the road for getting away with being ingor-ant. I don’t believe we can with great conviction say we have been smart as the shape of the nation will attest to.
Peace Brian!
Gavin
If the “oiks” can’t stand what is left of the original American framework today, imagine their hatred and fear of original “American DNA!” There is a movement out there to restore (as much as possible!) our founding values and principles. We have to sustain it and grow it. Put up a line of defense now and then we’re in for a generation or two of sustained effort.

Interesting blog. If I remember right from Greek class the word oikos means all those in your immediate network. Your Friends, neighbors, relatives, work associates, etc. The Greeks so their oikos as the one’s they were most loyal to. How contrary to to those with oikophobia.
